More great news. My short story “Kingdom Come,” a moonshining story I wrote longingly from San Francisco before we moved here to Asheville, has received 2nd prize in the 2009 Open Awards.
Press 53, an indie press out of Winston-Salem that focuses largely on short story collections (and God bless them for that), sponsors the contest. The judge was Rusty Barnes, founder of Night Train Magazine and author of the flash fiction collection Breaking it Down.
The story will be published in the Press 53 Open Award Anthology, due out this fall.
